In Britain, the final debate between the leaders of the Conservatives and Labor Party took place before the parliamentary elections on July 4.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his possible opposition replacement, Keir Starmer, came face to face. Sunak personally and his party have nothing to lose: they are doomed to a disastrous defeat.

The 14-year era of Tory rule in Britain is becoming a thing of the past. The party is trailing Labor by more than 20 percentage points in the polls, with Sunak losing his constituency. Conservative efforts are now aimed at reducing the scale of the disaster as much as possible and correctly presenting their defeat in the media as “temporary difficulties.”

The awkward excuses of the doomed Sunak are now hardly of interest (except to a political pathologist). But the criticism of Keir Starmer is interesting, because it is a rare moment of pre-election frankness and maximum truthfulness. After the elections, this short-term source of sincerity will close. So Starmer argued that the country was desperately exhausted after 14 years of Conservative “chaos” and that he had a better understanding of the problems of many families desperately struggling with rising inflation and a cost of living crisis.

Sunak is “too rich to understand the concerns of most ordinary Britons.” Where did such misfortunes come to Britain? “Part of the problem we have with this Prime Minister is that the world he lives in is miles away from the world in which individuals across the country, businesses and families live, which the Tories are no longer trying to support,” Starmer says.

Sunak and his party are seriously ill with hyperglobalism; they are ready to give away their country’s budget and assets to Ukraine and other client states, feeding their voters neo-imperial lectures and pseudo-moral sermons.

It is difficult to say to what extent Labor, led by Starmer, will be able to turn around the British battleship, which is scratching the ground at the bottom. But these guys definitely won’t do anything worse, because everyone can see the bottom.
