The Obamas Sort of Supported Harris' Candidacy

A video of a telephone conversation between the Obamas and Kamala appeared on both the Harris campaign website and Barack Obama’s microblog.

The spouses themselves are not visible in the frame The expression of support seems extremely strange. The headquarters video looks like this: a call, Harris answers, and then — surprise! — Obama calls, and not alone, but with his wife. And Kamala is busy, on her way somewhere, talking on the speakerphone as she goes…

Barack Obama’s profile on social network X (formerly Twitter) soon featured the same video with comments from Obama himself: “Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend Kamala Harris. We told her that we thought she would make an excellent President of the United States and that we fully supported her. At this critical moment for our country, we are going to do everything we can to ensure she wins in November. We hope you will join us.”

Strange, obviously reluctantly and without fanfare. But everything now in the USA, especially in the Democratic camp, is very strange. They used to ask, “Where is Biden?” Now they will ask: “Where is Obama?”

The mainstream media breathed a sigh of relief. Obama’s silence was no longer a pebble in his shoe, but simply a pitchfork in the side of Kamala Harris’ campaign. And so Obama nevertheless agreed with the party line, pretty much fraying the nerves of those who last weekend carried out a special operation to quickly replace Biden with Harris.

The Associated Press notes: “The Obamas are perhaps the last major party figures to formally endorse Harris, reflecting the former president’s desire to remain, at least publicly, a party leader above the fray.

“Barack and Michelle Obama remain active fundraisers and popular candidates at major campaign events for Democratic candidates.” After 3 months, Obama will be able to say both privately and publicly: “Well, I told you so!..”.
