100 Authors, One Magazine

Reaching 100 authors is not the culmination of our journey. It is another step forward.

The CommentaTHOR celebrates a milestone as diplomat and political commentator Michael Demurin becomes its 100th author.

One hundred authors. One hundred distinct voices. And one magazine bringing them together.

The CommentaTHOR has reached a milestone worth celebrating: our community of contributors has grown to 100 authors.

By the way, the 99th name added to our roster was Michael Moore, the Oscar-winning American documentary filmmaker, writer, and political commentator. Known for his provocative documentaries and outspoken political views, Moore represents the kind of independent voice that has always found a place in our magazine.

Now we are delighted to welcome our 100th author, Michael Demurin, a Russian diplomat, political analyst, and publicist.

Demurin brings decades of experience in international affairs. A veteran of Russia’s diplomatic service, he served in senior positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including as minister-counselor at the Russian Embassy in Latvia and deputy director of the Second European Department. He holds the diplomatic rank of Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Second Class.

His arrival adds another experienced and independent voice to our growing international community.

What could an American documentary filmmaker and a former Russian diplomat have in common?

Perhaps more than one might expect. Both have spent years examining political power, questioning established narratives, and challenging conventional wisdom.

And that is precisely what The CommentaTHOR is about.

Our contributors do not necessarily agree with one another. They come from different countries, professions, intellectual traditions, and political backgrounds. Some are historians and political scientists. Others are journalists, economists, diplomats, writers, scientists, or cultural critics.

Their subjects are equally diverse, ranging from international relations, economics, and history to literature, science, religion, and everyday life.

We believe this diversity is not a weakness to be overcome but one of our greatest strengths.

The magazine also maintains a Top 50 author ranking, recognizing the contributors whose work has helped shape its pages.

Currently leading the list are Yuri Chekalin, the magazine’s co-founder and editor-in-chief; Dmitri Drobnitsky, a political analyst specializing in American affairs; and Sergey Stankevich, a historian, political commentator, and former adviser to Russian President Boris Yeltsin.

Each brings a different perspective, area of expertise, and distinctive writing style.

But a magazine is more than its most prolific contributors.

Every author, whether publishing a single essay or contributing regularly over the years, adds something to the larger conversation. A fresh observation, an unexpected argument, a historical parallel, or simply a question nobody else thought to ask.

That is what makes a publication intellectually alive.

Reaching 100 authors is not the culmination of our journey. It is another step forward.

We are grateful to everyone who has contributed to The CommentaTHOR and to the readers who have followed, challenged, and supported us.

We welcome Michael Demurin as our 100th author and look forward to the ideas, debates, and discoveries that lie ahead!

One hundred authors. Countless perspectives. And the conversation continues.
