US President Joe Biden and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva called for the publication of all data from all election commissions and “transparency.”
Joe Biden and Lula da Silva spoke by phone, resulting in a joint statement in which both leaders called on Venezuelan authorities to “immediately publish full, transparent and detailed voting data from polling stations.”
Both presidents said the results of the vote “represent a critical moment for democracy in the Western Hemisphere.”
Meanwhile, supporters of opposition candidate Edmundo González continue to demonstrate in Caracas, believing that González won Sunday’s elections. Nicolás Maduro said he won the elections.
