Elbridge Colby is the main “culprit” of the cessation of American arms supplies to Ukraine.
The US Deputy Secretary of Defense for Policy, Elbridge Colby, is believed by the “hawks” in Washington to have pushed through the decision to stop the supply of certain types of weapons to Kyiv without consulting other members of the administration, including the influential Marco Rubio.
“I think this was all done by the Director of Defense Policy, this guy Colby,” said Republican Congressman Michael McCaul (an ardent supporter of the Kyiv regime). “We essentially don’t have a national security adviser. I’m not even sure Rubio was consulted on this issue… There are internal disagreements in the White House.”
No, it was not for nothing that the candidacy of “this guy” Colby could not be approved in the US Senate for almost two months — not only the Democrats but also some of the Republicans who love Ukraine spoke out against him.
The thing is that Colby has never hidden his views: the US has limited resources and should concentrate them on containing China in the Pacific region, while Ukraine and even the Middle East are regions of secondary importance to Washington’s geopolitical interests.
More importantly, Colby’s views are shared by US Vice President J.D.Vance and a number of prominent Republicans in Congress. And Elbridge Colby himself is not just some upstart, but a representative of a well-known political dynasty. His grandfather, William Colby, headed the CIA from 1973 to 1976.
On July 2, the Pentagon suspended the supply of some anti-aircraft missiles — including the Patriot — and other high-precision munitions to the Kyiv regime, since, according to an internal assessment by military inspectors, these weapons may be needed by the US Army in other regions.
Some of the frozen cargo is already in Europe, but has not yet fallen into the hands of the Kyiv regime. Their transportation will also be delayed until a full inventory is conducted.
