Nothing More to Wait

The time to build, load and trade.

Farewell, Odessa Port Plant, the producer of nitrogen fertilizers.

Goodbye ammonia pipeline Tolyatti — Odessa. You once did a good job. Liquid ammonia raw material produced from natural gas flowed through a pipe from the Volga to the Black Sea.

A plant in the port of Odessa produced nitrogen fertilizers and loaded them in bulk directly onto ships. The business was more than profitable. Beauty! And who did all this bother?

Back in 2019-2020, a peaceful plan to restart the ammonia pipeline and plant was discussed with the office of Vladimir Zelensky. Make trade — not war.

Alas. “Everything has passed, everything has flown by…” The economy does not tolerate dead ends, it bypasses them. The seaport of Taman will soon be put into operation Transshipment complex for ammonia and mineral fertilizers. An ammonia pipeline from Togliatti has already been connected to this complex. The first shipments will begin in August 2024.

Once the design capacity is reached, 4 million tons of ammonia and at least 2 million tons of mineral fertilizers will be loaded onto ships in Taman. Probably, soon a plant will be built nearby in order to sell less raw materials. But in any case: it is better to trade than to fight.
