Volodymyr Zelensky threatens Europe.

The current President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, addressing the members of the UN Security Council, in particular, reported:

Ukraine has received information that Russia is planning to attack three of its nuclear power plants. We have evidence of this. If Russia is ready to go so far, this means that nothing you value matters to Moscow.”

There are 5 nuclear power plants in Ukraine, Chernobyl under the emergency dome, Zaporizhia under the control of Moscow. The South-Ukrainian NPP (3 reactors are operating), Khmelnitsky NPP (2 reactors) and Rivne NPP (4 reactors) remain under the control of Kiev.

So far, there has not been a single attack on these three NPPs, and no threats have been observed. The Zaporizhzhya NPP is occasionally shelled, but it is in a state of cold shutdown, the situation is still under the control of Rosatom and the IAEA.

Zelensky’s public accusations against Moscow of preparing a nuclear catastrophe on a pan-European scale are an alarming phenomenon. Of course, Moscow not only does not need this, for any attempt of this kind would be a crazy act of suicide.

The Khmelnitsky and Rivne NPPs are very close to the border with Poland, Hungary and other Central and Eastern European countries. The South Ukrainian NPP is in risky proximity to Nikolaev and Odessa. It is impossible to imagine any reasons pushing Moscow towards “nuclear terrorism”.

But Kiev has a clear reason to promote this topic. It can be assumed that such statements will later serve as the basis for Kyiv’s petition to introduce foreign troops into the territory of the “threatened” stations. So that neighboring NATO states take the NPPs under protection, bring in air defense systems and other weapons and “protect themselves”.

Then it will be necessary to protect the troops brought in and off we go. A dangerous escalation issue. Military-political games with nuclear power plants are unacceptable.
