"If they want to talk, all they have to do is call!!! President DONALD D. TRUMP."

There Will Be No Negotiations, No Resumption of War for Now

According to Trump, this does not mean an immediate resumption of hostilities.

Trump canceled the trip of his representatives to Pakistan for talks with the Iranian delegation.

Trump’s “universal soldiers”—son-in-law Jared Kushner and friend Steve Witkoff—did not fly to Islamabad. There will be no talks.

However, according to Trump, this does not mean an immediate resumption of hostilities.

Trump attributes the breakdown of the talks to “internal strife” in Iran. However, it has become known that the Iranian delegation, which held talks with Pakistani leadership, returned to Tehran, refusing direct negotiations with the Americans, proposing to continue the dialogue indirectly through Pakistani intermediaries. Trump has rejected this format.

On his social media account, Truth Social, the US President wrote: “I just canceled my representatives’ trip to Islamabad, Pakistan, to meet with the Iranians. Too much travel time, too much work! Furthermore, their ‘leadership’ is incredibly divided and in disarray. No one knows who’s in charge, including themselves. Furthermore, we hold all the cards, and they hold none! If they want to talk, all they have to do is call!!! President DONALD D. TRUMP.”

But it’s not as if the US holds all the cards and that time is on Washington’s side. Both the domestic and foreign policy environment for the Trump administration is deteriorating with each passing day.

Meanwhile, the chief mediator in the Iran-US negotiations, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, announced that he had a telephone conversation with the Iranian president. In his microblog, the Pakistani prime minister wrote: “This evening, I had a warm and constructive telephone conversation with my brother, President Masoud Pezeshkian, on the developments in the region. I commended Iran’s continued engagement, including the participation of a high-level delegation led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Islamabad, whom I had the pleasure of meeting this morning. I reaffirmed that, with the support of friends and partners, Pakistan remains committed to serving as an honest and sincere broker, working tirelessly to establish lasting peace and stability in the region.”
