Sources from several media outlets have reported that the headquarters of the 82nd Airborne Division was suddenly withdrawn from counter-terrorism exercises.

As is customary, references to unnamed sources are given. However, the signal is clear. The 82nd Airborne Division has approximately 5,000 soldiers who can be deployed anywhere in the world within 18 hours. They specialize in tasks such as surprise airborne operations, reinforcing US embassy security, and organizing emergency evacuations. Until recently, the division was participating in exercises in Louisiana, but its headquarters was suddenly withdrawn from the exercises.

In addition, a source from The Washington Post reported that a helicopter unit may be sent to the Middle East soon. This plan was developed before the start of the war, but it will be implemented later this spring.

Maybe this is a disinformation campaign, or maybe it’s real preparation for some (apparently limited) operations in Iran or near its borders.
