Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has strongly denied reports that Tehran’s UN envoy has met with US billionaire Elon Musk.
Araqchi warned that Iran is “ready for confrontation or cooperation” in its dispute with the IAEA and Western countries over its nuclear program.
— “In my opinion, the US media’s fabrications about Elon Musk’s meeting with the Iranian envoy are a kind of test of the waters to see if there are grounds for such a move,” Araqchi said. — We are still waiting for the new US administration to clarify its policy, and based on that, we will adjust our own policy.
“Now is not the time for such meetings and it is not advisable,” Araghchi said. Then came the most interesting part. — “Our nuclear path in the coming year will be sensitive and complex, and we are ready for confrontation or cooperation,” Araghchi said. He said that the 2015 nuclear deal, from which Trump withdrew in 2018 during his first presidential term, “no longer has the same value for Iran.”
Iran is indeed capable of creating nuclear weapons in an extremely short time. If it has not already done so. It has the ability to independently create both uranium and plutonium explosive devices.
It is useful to remember something else. In December 2015, just before the New Year, in pursuance of the “nuclear deal”, which is now not in effect, a special ship transported 11 tons of low-enriched uranium (LEU) from Iran to Russia. The enrichment level of this raw material was already higher reactor, but not yet up to the weapons level.
— “This removal of all enriched material from Iran is a significant step toward Iran fulfilling its commitment not to have more than 300 kilograms of low-enriched uranium,” US Secretary of State John Kerry confirmed at the time. What 300 kilograms!
Since then, Russia has been storing 11 tons of uranium in safekeeping, which remains the property of the Islamic Republic of Iran. If Tehran demands its return… it will have to be returned.
And then — what? Elon Musk should understand the difference between Kiev and Tehran. These are two different worlds, two different ideas about values, about life and death. In a philosophical sense, these are two opposite poles.
Yes, it is time for the United States to end the Ukrainian epic. It is a pity that this will happen in the absence of Victoria (Toria) Nuland, well, that’s how it turned out.
But for communication with Iran, it is worth finding some specially trained people.
