“We are going to destroy their missiles and level their missile industry,” Trump declared.
US President Donald Trump confirmed in a video posted on social media that the United States has launched a “massive and ongoing” military campaign in Iran, “to prevent this very evil, radical dictatorship from threatening America and our fundamental national security interests”.
Conclusions:
Iran’s “nuclear program” is no longer at the center of the conflict.
It’s difficult for Trump to use it as the main pretext for an attack: during the previous attack on Iran in June 2025, Trump proudly reported that all of Iran’s nuclear facilities had either been destroyed on the surface or buried underground. Trump congratulated himself on his success and rewarded the perpetrators.
A year later, he can’t admit that he lied and that the nuclear threat from Iran is still “existential”.
Now the explanation is focused on Iran’s missile program.
They say that the missiles themselves and the factories producing them will be completely destroyed.
But how do these missiles threaten the US? Or, do they threaten US NATO allies?
Donald Trump has clearly and maliciously violated the US War Powers Resolution of 1973. Just think, I once wrote a lot about this law in my diploma and later in my dissertation. Youth comes back, but I’d rather it came back in a different way.
