First, the suspect was spotted and shot at, then chased, shot at again, but this time detained.
Fox News: Authorities are investigating a second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Around 1:30 p.m. ET Sunday afternoon, while the president was playing the fifth hole, a man was able to stick the barrel of his rifle (presumably an AK-47) through the chain-link fencing of the golf course in Florida.
The Secret Service spotted the man and shot him. According to authorities, the shooter was 200-400 meters away from Trump. The man was able to run, but was later stopped by authorities and arrested.
Authorities reported that they chased him with cars and a helicopter. Two backpacks (the contents are not being disclosed for the sake of the investigation) and a GoPro camera were found on the suspect.
The rifle (AK-47) was found in bushes near the golf course. Trump was not injured. The FBI said the incident “appears to be an assassination attempt.“
