Lauren Boebert of Colorado has become the latest Republican to fall out of favor with Trump. She received her share of “happiness” for supporting Thomas Massie, a Republican who opposes the war in Iran.

Donald Trump is using the ongoing Republican primaries before the congressional elections to exact revenge on his fellow party members, in particular, Representative Thomas Massie of Kentucky.

Bill Cassidy lost the Louisiana primary, but MAGA Republicans (who increasingly call themselves America First Republicans) believe he deserved it because he voted to convict Trump during his second impeachment in his first term. Republicans have a very different attitude toward Thomas Massie, whose only “sin” is opposing war with Iran.

Lauren Boebert isn’t from Kentucky (she represents Colorado’s 4th Congressional District), but she was the one who broke the dam. Boebert was a staunch ally of Donald Trump, but recently began criticizing him on specific issues. It all started with the “Epstein files.” But the war with Iran became a turning point for her, as it was for Massie. Boebert spoke at two of Massie’s campaign events and ardently defended him. Trump immediately lashed out.

Trump wrote on his social media account: “Anyone want to run against the dimwitted Lauren Boebert for Colorado’s Fourth Congressional District?” He continued: “Boebert is campaigning for Thomas Massie, the worst ‘Republican’ Congressman in the history of our country, from the Great State of Kentucky. Anyone that stupid deserves a good fight in the primary! While I’ve long endorsed Boebert, if a worthy candidate were found, I would be honored to withdraw my endorsement and support a good and worthy alternative.

Currently, all filing deadlines for the Colorado primary have passed, and Boebert remains the only Republican candidate in the primary. Massie faces a tough fight, especially since the Israeli lobby has turned against him. But it appears the fight for Massie has become a crucial issue for America First Republicans.

Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky and Representative Victoria Spartz of Indiana spoke in support of Massey’s candidacy. Tucker Carlson also aired a lengthy interview with Thomas Massey, discussing in detail the Epstein files, the Israel lobby, and the evolution of Donald Trump.

Trump also brought in the “heavy cavalry”: Defense Secretary Pete Hegsett spoke at a rally for Massey’s primary opponent, Ed Gallrain. Although he claimed to be speaking in his personal capacity, not as Secretary of Defense (to avoid violating the Hatch Act), observers noted that such behavior still flies in the face of decades-long Pentagon tradition.

Speaking at the rally, Hegsett declared that Massey was “playing into the hands of his enemies” and that the congressman’s behavior was “weakening the movement” at a time when it most needed unity.

The fight continues…
