Federal Bureau of Investigation agents have been sent a 13-item questionnaire aimed at finding out whether they or their colleagues were involved in cases related to the events of January 6, 2021 (also known as the storming of the Capitol).
The information has been leaked to the media. It has been presented as “another illegal action by Musk and his DOGE cronies.” 16 Bureau agents have filed lawsuits in Washington for wrongful prosecution.
The first lawsuit, filed on behalf of nine agents, says the 13-question requirement “is intended to identify agents who will be terminated or suffer other adverse employment actions. The lawsuit calls the DOJ’s actions “unlawful retaliation.”
The second lawsuit, filed on behalf of seven agents, focuses on agent safety. The lawyers say the details of those involved in the January 6 investigation could be leaked to the press, which could “lead to vigilante action by those [the agents] were investigating.”
The questionnaire is quite detailed. One of the questions asks: “What was the role of you/your employees in the investigation(s) or prosecution(s) related to the events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021? Select all that apply.” Then you are asked to check the boxes that include investigative actions such as surveillance, wiretapping, subpoenas, summons, or arrest. The deadline to submit the completed questionnaire is February 6, 2025.
Meanwhile, DOGE agents entered the FBI headquarters in Washington and, according to sources for The Daily Mail, received a list of approximately 5,000 Bureau employees who were involved in some way with the January 6 cases.
CNN correspondents testified that a group of DOGE agents (increasingly referred to as “Musk’s children”) entered the FBI headquarters building.
