Russian Government Invests into PR Hole

The Russian authorities intend to create mechanical engineering for microelectronics in the country virtually from scratch by 2027, developing equipment for all cycles of semiconductor production.

The cost of the project is estimated at more than 100 billion rubles. Compared to the investments of global industry players, the figures look modest: the world’s leading manufacturer of lithographic equipment for the production of chips, the Dutch company ASML, spent 3.25 billion euros on research and development work last year alone.

For comparison, this amount in Russian currency at the current exchange rate will be 344 billion rubles. But the problem, experts warn, is not only about money: in Russia there are literally only a few specialists capable of carrying out such developments.

Therefore, the allocation of 100 billion rubles for three years to create Russian electronic engineering is a conversation about nothing-nothing real can be created for such a small investment. This is simply another PR move to deceive the population about the enormous successes of import substitution and the gigantic achievements in the process of Russia getting up from its knees.

Let me remind you that the largest sum in the history of the Olympic movement, FIFTY BILLION DOLLARS, was spent on holding the Sochi Olympics in 2014. Or at the current exchange rate FIVE TRILLION RUBLES.

But if these 5 trillion rubles had been invested over 10 years at least in the creation of domestic electronic engineering, and not in fireworks and victory fanfare in honor of the winners of the Olympics, then the situation on the Ukrainian front would probably be different today. And not only at the front.

Alas, for our authorities it is more important to put noodles in the ears of voters than to do real things.

And if someday in the future a miracle happens and a real assessment of what has happened to our country over the past decades begins, then our children and grandchildren will be horrified by the scale of the country’s degradation.

The fact that before the eyes of their parents and grandfathers the destruction of the country and its industrial potential was deliberately carried out, and they applauded this and flocked to the polling stations in crowds to support this course disastrous for Russia.
