New Act to Protect American Voters from Immigrants

The bill, called the American Voter Protection Act, passed the House of Representatives a few days ago by a vote of 221 to 198 (even five Democrats voted in favor).

True, there is almost no chance of passage through the Senate, so the Democrats are not particularly worried.

“I think they [Republicans] believe in their heads that immigrants are somehow bad, you know — that we’re terrible and will always do bad things, even though we know that’s not true. We know that the data actually show that immigrants commit fewer crimes. You know that communities with more immigrants are actually safer,” said U.S. Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.), who emigrated from Peru at age 5.

Doesn’t remind you of anything? For example, the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Kolokoltsev also recently said that migrants commit only 4% of all crimes in the country.

True, we are still far from the United States in one respect: Biden there promises to veto a bill requiring voters to provide documentation of American citizenship when voting in federal elections.

In our country, migrants do not yet have the right to vote, but they receive Russian citizenship so easily that their American colleagues can only envy them. And with a fresh Russian passport, they will be welcome at the polling stations — so, if you think about it, the difference is not that big.

I don’t want to discuss laws, but many of my colleagues and friends or their parents are former migrants. I think Americans would be much worse off today if they had not come to the US then. I don’t know about migrants in Russia. However, Russians live well here, as far as I can see.
