The FBI is looking for evidence, politics, and the press — political overtones.
The FBI has raided the Maryland home of former Trump national security adviser and now his fierce critic, especially the president’s policy on the Russian-Ukrainian track, John Bolton. The Bureau’s investigation of Bolton was related to alleged violations in the use of classified information available to him, in particular, when he wrote the 2020 book “The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir.”
In 2020, Trump’s Justice Department set the first term for an investigation into Bolton, but the case was closed without charges. Now, Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Cash Patel are taking up the case with renewed vigor.
Bolton almost certainly violated something in 2020, which, in fact, the Justice Department announced at the time, but considered that the violations were not drawn into a criminal article. Now the leading investigators may turn out to be different.
And this is in any case a political case, like all the cases against Trump, which also had some basis, but in any case were used as a political weapon.
The whole question is whether this political case will be completed and whether the Trump administration will go further, i.e. whether it will begin the long-awaited MAGA movement of repression or everything will be limited to another scandal with zero output.
