Even a small bomb can cause enormous damage to the Kursk NPP. This was stated by the head of Rosatom Alexey Likhachev following the visit of the IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi to the nuclear power plant.
“This is one of our first large nuclear projects. It was created in the 60s and launched in the 70s. There are no powerful protections there, the reactor is actually located indoors in an ordinary building. And even a weak explosive device can cause irreparable damage,” Likhachev said. He also warned that a strike on the Kursk NPP could cause damage to the image of the entire nuclear power industry, and the IAEA understands this.
“We are worried and acutely concerned that a strike on the Kursk NPP could be a strike on the entire nuclear power industry of the planet and would cause irreparable damage to the development of nuclear power plants in the world as a whole. It seems to me that the IAEA shared this point of view,” said the head of Rosatom. According to him, the IAEA was presented with the results of specific attacks.
