Republicans demand to know if budget funds were used for it.
A group of nine Republican congressmen, led by Lance Gooden, sent a letter to the Speaker of the lower house, which contains a request for all documents related to Zelensky’s visit to a military plant in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
This visit, according to Republicans, was staged in such a way as to be a pre-election event in this key election state, since Zelensky was accompanied by representatives of the Democratic Party, and during it there was criticism of James David Vance, the Republican vice presidential candidate.
The letter states, in part:
“If taxpayer funds were used to facilitate this visit in a manner that may violate federal law or ethical standards, it is important that Congress and the public receive a full accounting of those expenses, as well as the motives behind the visit.”
