Marquis De Sade, jailed for his writings, had correctly observed, that whatever he imagined or practiced is dwarfed in comparison with the violence unleashed by the authorities during the French Revolution.
I was thinking about this observation in connection with the anger and abuse that the British public along with other self-righteous dopes direct at the former prince Andrew.
What about the outrage at what the British Government had been doing for centuries? What about the outrages at the incessant provoking of endless confrontations, be it between Russia and Ukraine (remember Boris Johnson interference) or practically any other conflict around the world.
“If two neighbors are fighting, that means they were visited by an Englishman recently,” goes Irish saying.
We are not just talking about starving and suffering Irish, of course. Middle East, Eastern Europe, China and its neighbors, India and Pakistan. Is there any part of the world that the Englishman—and I mean the government and not Prince Andrew— didn’t visit?
In other words, there is an obvious individual villainy and there is a systemic one, and numerous thinkers, from De Sade to Tolstoy, understood perfectly well, that no amount of individual villainy could come close to what the state does constantly and matter-of-factly.
And yes, it is the state, the systemic engine of corruption, brainwashing, exploitation, and obfuscation that once in while throws our way all sorts of Epsteins and Andrews to deflect our outrage.
Which takes me to another similar issue. Trump, corrupt or abusive as he is, still acts mostly alone (with his cronies, that is). He doesn’t even come close to the corrupt liberal democratic establishment, that fully controls US, Great Britain and their NATO sidekicks.
All those Clintons, Blairs, Bidens, Starmers, Hollands, and Macrons that are so fully entrenched and so systemically corrupt, that nothing that Trump will ever do, would come even closer. It is like comparing de Sade escapades with head chopping of the French revolution.
Yes, Trump tried to acquire some systemic power, with the help of his tariffs and ICE henchmen. It didn’t take him very far. Yes, he still can direct military at some successful bombing or hijacking operations. But that’s hardly equates to all the nasty wars that the political establishment had unleashed recently upon the humanity.
So yes, go on complaining about Epstein, Trump, or any other villain de jour. You are just doing the bidding of all these nice soft spoken men in suits, those nasty robots, who don’t have strong enough passions or vices to act on their own.
