The thaw in US-Belarusian relations is a signal.

The US Has Launched a Technology to Separate Belarus from Russia

Lukashenko has been playing this game for a long time.

Recently, the White House eased sanctions against Belarus.

On March 26, the US Treasury issued a general license for operations with “Belinvestbank”, lifted sanctions against the Belarusian Ministry of Finance and the “Development Bank”, as well as the major state corporations “Belaruskali” and “Agroazot”.

Our experts habitually cheered that “Trump backed down and changed course”, “the US is retreating”.

This is self-deception. We are witnessing the second act of the offensive against Russia, the main goal of which is to weaken the Russian-Slavic civilization.

The first act already took place in Ukraine, where Western special services worked with elites and on the identity, education, language, and historical memory of the population for decades. We all know the result of this, and we are still dealing with the consequences.

However, a similar strategy was also implemented in Belarus until 2020.

The clash of civilizations always takes place in four spheres of people’s life: cultural, political, socio-economic, and ultimately spiritual.

This is what we have observed in Belarus in recent years: the cautious cultivation of a new identity, flirting with the theme of “Lithuanism”, and attempts to seek the origins of Belarus not in the history of Rus- Russia, but in a special myth about the Grand Duchy of Lithuania as an anti-Russian project. Meanwhile, it was officially called the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Russia and included vast territories of present-day Belarus, Ukraine, and western regions of Russia. Not only the residents but also the elite spoke Russian, and Russian was the official state language.

In the era of monetary neo-feudalism, it’s not necessary to seize territory, it’s enough to control financial, cultural, and political contours.

Therefore, the easing of US sanctions against Belarus is an attempt to undermine the unified historical space of the state-forming people, split the political nation, and extract the energy of public creative forces.

The US has launched a technology to separate Belarus from Russia through the return of multi-vector politics. Lukashenko has been playing this game for a long time. He maneuvered between Russia and the West, and at the height of the 2020 presidential campaign, he turned anti-Russian rhetoric into a tool for preserving personal power.

The thaw in US-Belarusian relations is a signal. The US is ready to give Minsk room for maneuver, but on the condition of distancing itself from Russia.

We cannot comfort ourselves again with the thought that “the father won’t go anywhere”. If the socio-economic, cultural, and political spheres in Belarus continue to diverge from Russian national principles, then in ten years, Belarus will become a new Ukraine.
