Election Night in the US Ended in a Democratic Victory

In New York, an immigrant socialist was elected mayor, in New Jersey and Virginia, female Democrats became governors, and in California, a regulation on changing electoral districts was adopted.

In the USA, on November 4, there was, as we would say, a single day of voting. In the USA, this is called the election night (a term partially adopted from us). The big election night will take place in a year’s time — the main focus will be on the midterm congressional elections. Well, this night was “small”. Its results are almost all in favor of the Democrats. Moreover, their left wing.

The self-styled “democratic socialist” Zohran Mamdani, a native of Uganda (a country in central Africa), became the mayor of New York.

Republicans call him a “communist.” However, his beliefs are closer to neo-Trotskyism and, to some extent, anarchism mixed with left-wing Islamism.

There were eight candidates in the race, but the main battle was between Mamdani and former state governor Andrew Cuomo. Mamdani received 50.4% of the vote, while Cuomo received 41.6%. This was not a landslide victory, but it was a significant victory.

Speaking to his supporters at night, Mamdani said: “I am a Muslim. I am a democratic socialist. And, most importantly, I refuse to apologize for any of this.” He also said that New York “will remain a city of immigrants, a city built by immigrants, driven by immigrants, and, starting tonight, led by an immigrant.”

Mamdani will take office on January 1. Some Republican congressmen hope to prevent Mamdani from taking the oath of office by accusing him of inciting a rebellion (based on the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, which was used against Trump in the past).

In New Jersey and Virginia, the gubernatorial elections were held, and in both cases, the Democrats won a landslide victory.

November 4 was also Women’s Day in these states. Abigail Spanberger became the governor of Virginia, while Mikie Sherrill became the governor of New Jersey. In Virginia, the first female governor in history has been elected. In addition, the election of the Virginia Attorney General has taken place. Democrat Jay Jones, known for his pro-immigrant views, has been elected. After the vote count, he has stated that he will “protect the rights of all residents” and defend the state from “Trump’s attacks.”

Another important event is the California referendum on redrawing the boundaries of electoral districts. Voters were asked to vote on the so-called “Proposition 50,” which would allow the state legislature to redraw county lines, potentially allowing California to send five additional Democratic lawmakers to Congress in 2026. The measure was overwhelmingly supported by California voters.

All of this is very disappointing for the Republican Party and for Trump personally, because everyone he called on to vote for lost: in Virginia, in New Jersey (where there were Republican candidates), and even in New York City, where, although there was a Republican candidate, Trump called on voters to vote for centrist Democrat Andrew Cuomo to “avoid electing a communist.”

This says a lot about the evolution of the Democratic Party and the evolution of Trump. The Democratic Party is expectedly leaning towards a radical left-wing ideology, towards neo-Trotskyism, because there is no longer any energy or even political logic in the liberal mainstream. As for Trump, by supporting Cuomo (to avoid the worst), he is expectedly moving away from his own revolutionary aspirations. Instead of wishing for a “stronger storm,” he has been advocating for the liberal mainstream, fearing the radicalization of the situation. Instead of working towards escalation, he is only focused on maintaining balance and power.

TRUMP’S REACTION TO THE NOVEMBER 4 ELECTIONS:

Anger, disappointment, confusion, excuses, and demands to end the shutdown.

US President Donald Trump responded to the elections and referendums held in the United States on Tuesday with a series of posts on his social media platform, Truth Social. The post concluded with a short message in all capital letters: “…AND SO IT BEGINS!”.

Trump, of course, did not attribute the Republican Party’s electoral losses to himself. He cited only one quote (which should be noted as distorted) in his publication: “TRUMP WASN’T ON THE BALLOT, AND SHUTDOWN, WERE THE TWO REASONS THAT REPUBLICANS LOST ELECTIONS TONIGHT,” according to Pollsters.”

In reality, of course, even if not literally, Trump was on the ballots. In Virginia and New Jersey, he actively campaigned for Republicans and urged his fellow party members to prevent the election of Zohran Mamdani in New York. As for the shutdown, yes, it did affect the election results. For example, there are a large number of federal employees in Virginia who are now on a hunger strike. Additionally, the shutdown is gradually shifting from being a problem of “uncompromising Democrats” to being a problem of the administration that initiated it. Eventually, such issues become the responsibility of the ruling party and its president. However, Trump’s “it’s not my fault” attitude is particularly notable.

Subsequently, Trump delivered his “November Theses.” He wrote: “Pass Voter Reform, Voter ID, No Mail-In Ballots. Save our Supreme Court from “Packing,” No Two State addition, etc. TERMINATE THE FILIBUSTER!!!” (“Filibuster” is a short name for a set of Senate rules that require 60 votes out of 100 to make decisions). And then it gets interesting. After all, the project to expand the Supreme Court and add two new states (Puerto Rico and the “Community of Douglas,” which is now the District of Columbia) is a 2020 Democratic agenda that has yet to be implemented. The only way for the Democrats to return to this agenda is if they control both chambers of Congress and the presidency. Is this Trump’s vision for the future? It is, to put it mildly, concerning.

Later, Trump returned to his demand to change the Senate’s rules: “REPUBLICANS, TERMINATE THE FILIBUSTER! GET BACK TO PASSING LEGISLATION AND VOTER REFORM! President DJT”.

Later, Trump paid special attention to the California referendum: “The Unconstitutional Redistricting Vote in California is a GIANT SCAM in that the entire process, in particular the Voting itself, is RIGGED. All “Mail-In” Ballots, where the Republicans in that State are “Shut Out,” are under very serious legal and criminal review. STAY TUNED!” Trump thus hinted that the federal authorities could intervene in California affairs and conduct an investigation into how the vote was counted in the referendum. It is unlikely, of course, that anything will come of it.
