33-year-old Bruna Ferreira, who immigration authorities believe is in the United States illegally, was detained in New Hampshire. She arrived in the United States from Brazil as a child, and her parents apparently settled in the United States without valid grounds. Ferreira had a tourist visa, but it expired in 1999. However, under Obama’s DACA program, she was granted temporary protected status and even awaited permanent residency. Now, all these programs are worthless due to the Trump administration’s negative attitude toward them.
Here’s the twist: Bruna was once fiancée to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s brother, Michael. They have an 11-year-old son. The engagement fell through, and the son now lives with his father, but the parents co-parent, so he spent a significant amount of time with his mother. Bruna was arrested while picking up her son from school.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement claims Bruna Ferreira is an illegal alien, as she was arrested for battery, which, however, did not result in charges. So, while she has a criminal record, she has no criminal history.
After her arrest, Ferreira was transferred first to Massachusetts (where she is primarily based), then to a detention center for illegal aliens in Louisiana.
The media sent numerous inquiries to Karoline Leavitt’s office. There was no response.
