Elon Musk’s question about why no one is trying to kill Biden and Harris, while there has already been two assassination attempts on Trump, was only half a joke.
But really, why? Well, with Biden, everything is clear. After refusing to run for re-election (which may not have been done entirely of his own free will, but as a result of an intra-party coup), he ceased to be of interest to anyone.
The physical elimination of Biden before the November elections could only be beneficial to the group pushing Kamala for president, and only if she was far behind Trump according to opinion polls. And now, when both candidates are neck and neck, there is no reason to eliminate the old man.
Kamala herself is not in any danger, and not because she is better guarded than anyone else in the United States. It’s just that the Republicans do not have a tradition of physically eliminating their political opponents.
True, there are also fringe groups like the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire: a week ago, a post appeared on the party’s X account stating that “anyone who kills Kamala Harris will be considered an American hero.” The post was later deleted, but the Secret Service has launched a closed investigation into it, and it is likely that someone will have to answer for it.
But the threat hanging over the Republican candidate is very real. Recently, Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz said that there are “at least” five groups of assassins in the United States aimed at killing Donald Trump.
