At the very first BRICS meeting on October 22, the most acute conflict situations that currently exist on the globe will be discussed in a narrow format.
And, naturally, the Ukrainian crisis will not be without discussion. Experts expect that representatives of Brazil and China will outline their understanding of these conflicts. And they will show some kind of roadmap for their 6-point plan.
In May, China and Brazil issued a joint statement on the situation in Ukraine, calling dialogue and negotiations the only way to resolve it. They also proposed “at an appropriate time” to hold an international peace conference “with the equal participation of all parties and discussion of all peace plans.”
Later, in September, the creation of a “Friends of Peace” platform for resolving the crisis was announced. Perhaps the “friends of peace” will make a policy statement and invite negotiations on peace for Ukraine.
