Liz Cheney is suspected of pressuring witnesses and conspiring to destroy evidence in the January 6 events.
Donald Trump was the first to publicly call for criminal prosecution of Liz Cheney (the daughter of that same Dick Cheney). He said that she and some other members of the House Select Committee (then controlled by Democrats) investigating the events of January 6, 2021 (also known as the storming of the Capitol) destroyed a significant portion of evidence that, firstly, could have helped to take a different look at the events of that day, and secondly, to reveal the role of high-ranking Democrats (for example, Nancy Pelosi) in the development of the situation.
Another accusation against Liz Cheney is possible pressure on witnesses. At least one of them, Cassidy Hutchinson (named the “star witness” in 2021), is known to have been texting her on the Signal app (blocked in Russia), which is a direct violation of the rules of congressional investigations.
Now Republicans are calling on the “new FBI leadership” to investigate Liz Cheney. Cheney was one of two members of the Republican Party who agreed to join the special commission investigating the events of January 6.
The fact is that Nancy Pelosi then refused to allow the Republicans to independently appoint members of the commission from their party, citing the fact that they were “friends of Trump”, after which the party boycotted the investigation.
But two apostates were found. One of them was Cheney. For this, Liz Cheney was expelled from all governing bodies of the Republican Party, and in the next re-election, she lost the primaries to a Republican supported by Trump. Well, now the investigation may be interested in her.
However, there are already rumors that Cheney could be one of those who may be preemptively pardoned by Joe Biden in the final days of his presidency.
