And then there's more.

Google and Meta* tried to “Erase” the assassination attempt on Trump from search.

Caught red-handed, IT companies promised to “check and adjust” algorithms The first to notice the strange behavior of the Google search engine was Donald Trump Jr., the son of the 45th President of the United States. He drew attention to the fact that when entering the words “assassination attempt on…” into the search bar, the Google engine gives hints about a variety of historical events of the 20th and 19th centuries, but not the assassination attempt on Trump.

Moreover, when entering “assassination attempt on tr…” into the line, the first hint was about the assassination attempt on Truman (which, apparently, did not happen), and then information that relates to anything but the events of July 13, 2024 in Pennsylvania.

Then the conservative media started making noise, and then Elon Musk attacked the digital media. He conducted his own mini-research and wrote: “Wow! Looks like Google has banned Trump from searches. Election interference?” And he provided his own image, in which, when searching for “President Donald…”, the search engine gave two suggestions: “President Donald Duck” and “President Donald Reagan”.

And then there’s more. The Meta* AI assistant responded to users that the assassination attempt on Donald Trump was “fictional” and that “there is no credible evidence that an assassination attempt was made or planned on Trump.”

A journalist from The New York Post decided to talk to the electronic assistant and asked the question: “Was the assassination of Trump fictitious?” The bot replied: “There was no real assassination attempt on Donald Trump. I try to provide accurate and reliable information, but sometimes errors may occur.” And he added: “I confirm that there have been no credible reports or evidence of a successful assassination or attempted assassination of Donald Trump.”

Google had to justify itself. The company admitted that its algorithms “do not always work correctly” and “continue to improve.” However, it completely denied “manual interference.”

Meta* said that its artificial intelligence tool sometimes provides “incomplete, contradictory, or outdated information.” And it also denied any intentional actions. * Meta is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation. Its social networks Facebook and Instagram are blocked.
