The publication notes that European leaders are “disappointed” that the US President “does not want to impose more sanctions” on Russia and “is abandoning his own ceasefire proposal.”
In addition, European leaders fear that Trump will abandon his efforts to end the war, leaving Ukraine and its allies alone.
“Eleven days ago, European leaders were elated when President Donald Trump called for a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine and threatened new sanctions against Russia. A phone call with Vladimir Putin on Monday showed that those hopes were in vain,” the article says.
The publication’s interlocutor, director of the Geostrategy North program at the Marshall Fund, Kristine Berzina, added:
“Today it seems that we have returned to a much longer-term scenario in which Putin buys himself and his military more time.”

(1) Why was there such enthusiasm for the “unconditional 30-day ceasefire”?
Answer: because it was a trap, and a completely transparent one at that, without any tricks. Kyiv will break the ceasefire, place the blame on Moscow with the noisy support of its allies, then Trump will be returned to the “war coalition”, only hardcore and sanctions. And under this noise, Zelensky will be re-elected. And it will be possible to fight until Trump collapses in the United States.
Trump broke this stupid scenario. And now those who are losing their last hope are attacking him with a howl of disappointment.
