Papa Biden has granted a presidential pardon to his son Biden Jr., who was supposed to be sentenced on December 12 and 16 in two court cases that he lost — tax evasion and filing false information when purchasing a firearm.
In one case, the term could theoretically be up to 17 years, in the other — up to 25, although in practice everyone was more than sure that son Biden would get off with just a suspended sentence. Well, daddy, before leaving the White House (and, I hope, big politics) forever, decided to make his mark with some political fireworks, issuing a “full and unconditional pardon” to his son, because “the whole case against his son was politically motivated, many do not pay taxes on time, but you can’t put them in jail for that, especially since his son has already compensated the treasury for all the losses, and in general he hasn’t taken drugs for six and a half years, and he’s a good boy no matter how you look at it.”
There is no corruption here, no nepotism, no preferential treatment. The president simply took this particular case, looked at it carefully, and decided that since the case was politically motivated and “directed against him personally and against his election campaign,” to overturn the jury’s verdict… And all this after the same daddy, both personally and through his spokesman in the White House, repeatedly stated that he would not pardon his son if he were convicted under any circumstances.
A man of his word — he gave it when he wanted, and he took it back when he wanted. An independent judiciary, they said, separation of powers.
They said, the change of power, they said, the system of control, checks and balances, they said… Well, well… And what’s interesting is that in this particular case, unlike the situation with the decision to allow long-range American weapons to strike at Russian territory, Trump did not remain silent…
I remember that on Russian television, some Americanist experts explained Trump’s silence on this matter (the permission to use long-range American weapons) by the fact that, supposedly, the president-elect cannot publicly speak out on the political decisions of the outgoing president until the inauguration, supposedly this contradicts American law, supposedly that’s why “our” Trump kept silent…
But here, for some reason, he did not remain silent and indignantly spoke out on Musk’s network… Well, well… And these people, through their radio voices (Free Europe, Voice of America, and others), explained to the gullible Soviet citizens behind the Iron Curtain that in America there is democracy and the rule of law and justice… and the gullible Soviet citizens believed them…
I don’t even know what else the American political and financial bigwigs have to do to finally open the eyes of the stubborn apologists of American democracy.
